It Sucks That Lance Reddick Isn’t Here: Keanu Reeves Remembers ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ Co-Star Lance Reddick
The actor died on March 17, just days before the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4 where he reprises his role as Charon. Keanu Reeves paid tribute to Lance Reddick on the red carpet.
“I have been privileged to work with Lance for over 10 years and four films, and it sucks that he isn’t here anymore,” Reeves told Deadline. “He was a beautiful person, an exceptional artist, and had such a passion for his craft.”
Reddick told Deadline, “When someone so close passes so suddenly, it’s always tricky.” We’re all just very fortunate to have spent the last 10 years working with him. He was an incredible man, a great human. The best way to remember him and celebrate him is to never forget how much he touched us.” He was a mentor, a friend, and a great human being.”
In the theater, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake dedicated the film to Reddick. The audience gave him a standing ovation.
In the John Wick franchise, Reddick has played a concierge at New York’s Continental Hotel, where he spent a lot of screen time with Reeves. Since the first movie premiered back in 2014, Reddick has been an integral part of the franchise. Until recently, they were doing press for the fourth installment, which opens on March 24, and Reddick has also voiced Charon in the video game John Wick Hex.
